London, 1940. The Blitz. One magical night. One extraordinary love story. Matthew Bourne's Cinderella transforms the timeless fairytale into a thrilling wartime romance, told through spectacular dance, Prokofiev's magnificent music and the sights and sounds of a city at war.
Against the dramatic backdrop of the London Blitz, Cinderella has a chance encounter with a dashing young RAF pilot. One magical night is just long enough for them to fall in love – before the chaos of war tears them apart. What follows is a moving journey of love, separation and hope as the familiar fairytale is reimagined for a very different world.
Created by legendary choreographer Matthew Bourne and his award-winning New Adventures company, Cinderella combines vivid storytelling and extraordinary dance with Sergei Prokofiev's celebrated score. Olivier Award-winning designs, atmospheric lighting, projections and immersive sound bring war-torn London to life around the dancers, turning a familiar story into a gripping theatrical spectacle.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary, Matthew Bourne's Cinderella returns to Sadler's Wells as part of London's festive theatre season. Romantic, dramatic and visually spectacular, this is Cinderella as you've never experienced it before – a story of love and hope told through the power of dance.
